![]() The Dark Eye has since been used to power the Drakensang computer games. FanPro in 2007 transferred the license to the RPG to another gaming company. As the wiki page on FanPro describes, the English translation “did not fare well in the marketplace”. In 2003 publishers FanPro decided to make a foray into the English-speaking market, and produced an English-language translation through their American subsidiary. I have not managed to get a group to play it. I picked up a copy at a song years ago when, sadly, one of my area FLGS went out of business. (additional translations include French, Dutch and Italian). The RPG launched in 1983 from what I know of it, under the name “Das Schwarze Auge”, it is to German-speaking central Europe what the Dungeons & Dragons legacy has been to the U.S. ![]() The Dark Eye RPG has been around for thirty years, but few people outside of Europe are likely to have heard of it.
